For centuries, artists of all disciplines
have been viewed in high regard. Often time’s diplomats and people of
aristocracy would invite artists, musicians, and actors to their events to
appear on trend or “cool” to the public.

-When did is become acceptable for artists
to be starving and “exposure” be an
appropriate form of payment for work and services?
-When did the artists start becoming deemed
useless and without redeeming qualities to society?
Trina Slade-Burks is an artist, author, educator, and curator with more than three decades of professional experience in the arts. She is the co-founder of ATB Fine Art Group Inc., a national art-based consulting firm devoted to the creation, promotion, and education of multidisciplinary arts, as well as the No More Starving Artists Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization committed to supporting the sustainability of Palm Beach County artists. Throughout her career, she has remained dedicated to empowering artists to cultivate enduring, impactful legacies.
